Alcohol is full of calories. These calories are known as “empty calories”. They’re called empty calories because they have absolutely no nutritional value to your body. These empty calories cause you to gain weight.
Most people believe that drinking wine as opposed to beer is a “healthier” option. This is not the case as wine can often have more calories per 100ml than beer. It’s the alcohol itself that contains calories.
Alcohol also has several side effects which will interfere with your weight loss efforts. When you drink alcohol you’re more likely to eat unhealthy foods, get less sleep and do things you wouldn’t normally do.
Bottom line, limit your alcohol intake is you want to lose weight.
